Step by step guide to construct your pool
At Atlas Blue we make sure you enjoy your pool construction steps as much as we love our job. The more you know what goes into building your pool, the more you will enjoy its completed state. As such we have prepared a brief step by step guide to understand the pool construction steps. With this knowledge we aim to make you feel comfortable about building a pool and educate you on the key elements of the process.
Step 1: Excavation (~7-10 days)
The first step in building your pool is excavating the site and setting the boundaries, shape and depth of your pool. The pool boundaries are then built up with bricks defining the shape of the swimming pool. The pool depth and slope are first defined in this step.
Step 2: First layer concrete cast (~2 days)
After excavation, the ground of the pool is applied with the first layer concrete cast. This serves as a solid base to hold the shape of the pool intact and for the main steel reinforced concrete layer.
Step 3: Waterproofing (~4-6 days)
The complete pool (floor and walls) are waterproofed as a first layer of insulation. This waterproofed layer is tested thoroughly for any leaks.
Step 4: Steel structure for main concrete cast (~5-8 days)
Before the steel reinforcement is applied the floor is protected with a screed mortar layer. The steel structure is then setup and will serve to reinforce the main concrete cast. The steel structure involves laying out a mesh system of steel rods on the pool floor and walls.
Step 5: Piping (~5-7 days)
The piping will be embedded in the steel mesh system. The pipes will be tested for any leaks using a pressure test system to ensure everything is in order before applying the floor concrete cast.
Step 6: Concrete Cast (~10-14 days)
This step will be done in two parts. The first part is to apply the flooring concrete cast. After that, a wooden frame will be build along the walls in which the concrete cast for the walls will be applied. After the walls concrete is applied, you will finally see the final look and feel of your pool.
Step 7: Waterproofing and Leak Water Test (~30 days)
The pool is again waterproofed with 2 layers as an internal layer of protection. This serves as a safetly insulation layer. The waterproofing is followed by a leak water test for 14 days to ensure there are no leaks.
Step 8: Tiles and decorative touches (~7-10 days)
The last step is the application of the tiles, lights, and other decorative final touches to your pool and equipment room area.
Step 9: Installation of Equipment & Commissioning (~14 days)
This is where your pool comes to life. Your pool equipment will be installed and tested. Our engineers will monitor the pool for a couple of weeks to make sure all equipment are functioning properly and you are enjoying your pool to the max!
